Description

One (1) 10-pack of insulin syringes made by McKesson or Clever Choice. We currently stock nine varieties of syringes — five longs, four shorts. Keep this information in mind when ordering sharps based on your preferences:

Needle Length

  • Shorter needles (5/16″) are e ideal for hitting smaller, surface-level veins like those on the hands and forearms
  • Longer needles (1/2″) are harder to handle, but better off for hitting deeper veins

Gauge (Needle Thickness)

Insulin syringes usually range from 27G to 31G. The lower the gauge number, the thinner the needle.

  • Thinner needles (31G) do less damage to the skin, causing less bleeding. More likely to clog. Get dull faster if you’re reusing sharps.
  • Thicker needles (27G) leave larger puncture wounds in the skin, meaning a higher chance of infection. Less likely to clog. Stay sharper longer if reusing sharps.

Barrel Size

Measured in milliliters, cubic centimeters, or units (1 mL = 1cc = 100 units). Keep in mind that it’s recommended to use as much water as possible to dilute your shot, as our veins don’t appreciate when we put foreign objects into our bloodstream.

  • Smaller (0.3 – 0.5 mL) barrels hold less water, making them easier to handle.
  • Larger (1.0 mL) barrels hold more water, but may be more difficult to handle.
